Introduction to Zheng Luchen: Zheng Lucheng (1914.8.13 - 1976.12.7), formerly known as Zheng Boon, was born in Gwangju, Jeollanam-do, North Korea (now South Korea). Zheng Lucheng is another outstanding composer in modern Chinese history after Nie Er and Xian Xinghai, and a pioneer in China's proletarian revolutionary music career. He is known as the "Father of Military Songs." In 1933, Zheng Lucheng came to Nanjing, China to join the Korean Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Organization "Yiyue Tuan" and began a life of revolution and music study. In 1939, Zheng Lucheng became famous after composing "Ode to Yan'an" and officially joined the Communist Party of China in 1939. The "March of the Eighth Route Army" he composed during the same period was renamed "The Military Song of the Chinese People's Liberation Army". In 1950, Zheng Lucheng officially became a citizen of the People's Republic of China and settled in Beijing. Died of illness in 1976. In 2009, Zheng Lucheng was named one of the "100 Heroic Model Figures Who Made Outstanding Contributions to the Founding of New China" by 11 departments including the Central Propaganda Department and the Central Organization Department.
