The Xu Guangqi Memorial Hall in Shanghai was built to commemorate Xu Guangqi, a famous scientist in the Ming Dynasty, and to give his status in literature and history and modern scientific thought a "foothold". Xu Guangqi (1562.4.24-1633.11.8), courtesy name Zixian, nickname Xuanhu, Catholic holy name Paul, Han nationality, native of Fahuahui, Shanghai County (now Shanghai City), was a famous scientist and politician in the Ming Dynasty. When he reached Chongzhen, he served as the Minister of Rites, Bachelor of Wenyuan Pavilion, and Second Assistant to the Cabinet.
