Beijing University of Technology was founded in 1960. It is a key municipal university with a focus on engineering and a combination of science and engineering, economics and management, and literature. In 1981, it became the first batch of master's degree-granting units approved by the Ministry of Education, and in 1985, it became a doctoral degree-granting unit. It is one of the first batch of key construction universities to enter the national “211 Project” and “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan”.
