The original name of Dazhong Temple is Juesheng Temple. It was built in the 11th year of Yongzheng reign of Qing Dynasty (1733). Located on the north side of Lenovo Bridge on the North Third Ring Road in Haidian District, a bluestone plaque hangs high on the gate of the Bell Temple, with nine flying dragons piercing the clouds engraved on it. In the center is the imperial inscription of Emperor Yongzheng, "Edict to Build Juesheng Temple". Because it contains the Yongle Bell of the Ming Dynasty, it is named Dazhong Temple. The Dazhong Temple is large in scale and was built under the order of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty. There are mountain gate, Tianwang Hall, main hall, back hall, Sutra Library, Bell Hall, and side hall buildings. It was originally a place where the emperor prayed for rain and believers made pilgrimages. The big bell in the temple is called the Yongle Bell, with a height of 6.75 meters, an outer diameter of 3.3 meters, and a weight of about 46.5 tons. The temple fair of Dazhong Temple is still open to this day. In the old days, it took place on the first day of the first lunar month every year and half a month after the temple was opened. Tourists gathered here. There were activities such as "making money eyes" and it was very lively. In recent years, tourism has developed, temple fairs have been restored, and the tradition of ringing bells for the New Year has been added.
