Huangboshan Wanfu Temple is the largest and most influential temple in the history of Fuqing. It was founded in the fifth year of Zhenyuan of the Tang Dynasty (789) and has a history of more than 1,200 years. The original name of Wanfu Temple was Prajna Hall. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Shenzong Zhu Yijun (1563-1620) bestowed the name "Wanfu Temple" on it, which has been used ever since. Wanfu Temple is located in a small valley surrounded by mountains at the foot of Huangbo Mountain. It has beautiful scenery, with dense mountains and forests outside, green trees and grassland inside, red tiles and gold palaces, pavilions and pavilions, all scattered at random. Manpukuji Temple is also the ancestral home of the Huangbo Sect of Japanese Buddhism. Wanfu Temple flourished in the Ming Dynasty. In the early Qing Dynasty, the eminent monk Yin Yuan became the abbot of Wanfu Temple, and it became a major sect. In the twelfth year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, Zen Master Yinyuan traveled east to Japan and founded the Huangbo Sect. Yinyuan built a temple in Kyoto, Japan, using the architecture of his hometown Wanfu Temple as a model, and it was also named Huangbo Mountain Wanfu Temple. From then on, Huangbo Sect became the largest sect in Japanese Buddhism.
