Introduction to Queen Mother Yaochi: There are countless beautiful legends circulating in Karakul Lake, the most fascinating of which is that this was the Yaochi where the Queen Mother of the West once lived. It is said that in ancient times, there was a primitive tribe living under the Kunlun Mountains. It was a matrilineal clan society at that time, and the leader of the tribe, the Queen Mother of the West, lived on the shores of Lake Karakul.
In the thirteenth year of King Mu (989 BC), King Mu of Zhou spent more than a year traveling throughout the Western Regions and had extensive exchanges with various tribes, unveiling the history of friendship between the Central Plains and the Western Regions. The story of King Mu meeting Queen Mother of the West on Yaochi is described in detail in the book "The Biography of Emperor Mu" written during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. The murals in Cave No. 423 in Dunhuang, Gansu Province also provide a true record and vivid depiction of the grand gathering at that time.
