Introduction to the Far North: This is the home of the Inupiat Eskimos and is also the area where auroras and daylight appear. Traditional Eskimo life, modern petroleum technology, and large herds of wild reindeer intertwine to create a unique scene. Kotzebu and Barrow are the two largest Eskimo communities in Alaska. The Dalton Highway in the region connects Prudhoe Bay to the Alaska Highway system and is the only road that can enter the Arctic region.
