Introduction to Pompeii’s Pillar: Pompey’s Pillar consists of three parts: base, column body and column top. The total height is 26.85 meters and it weighs about 500 tons. The column body is cylindrical and is hewn from a single piece of red granite. The top of the column is in the ancient Roman Corinthian style and decorated with acanthus flowers. The stone for the pillars was quarried from Aswan in Upper Egypt.
