Introduction to Notre Dame d`Afrique: Notre Dame d`Afrique is a Roman Catholic temple that was completed in 1872, 14 years after the foundation was laid. Its architect Fromageau was appointed as the chief architect of French Algerian church buildings in 1859. He adopted the neo-Byzantine style that was very popular in French church architecture at that time. The Basilica of Our Lady of Africa is located in the north of Algiers, perched on a 124-meter-high cliff and can be reached by cable car from the city center.
