Elk Introduction: There are countless wild animals roaming the forests and meadows. Mule deer and black bears are often seen, and beavers can be found damming the many creeks that flow into the lake. Higher up there are elk, and even higher still, hiding from predators on seemingly inaccessible cliffs, are the Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep that have become a symbol of the park.
