Introduction to the Sky Palace: The Sky Palace (Phimeanakas), formerly known as Golden Horn Mountain, was originally built by King Chenla Rājendravarman II during his reign (941-968). The Shiva Temple built at the same time was later converted into a Mount Meru-style Hindu temple by Suryavarman I. The style of the Sky Palace is influenced by Indian culture in many aspects. Although it is not as well-preserved and famous as Angkor Wat, it is still an important milestone in the development history of Khmer architectural art. It is the predecessor of Angkor Wat and contains several elements of Angkor Wat's architectural art: Mount Sumeru, the central pagoda, the gallery, and the temple gate pavilion.
