It was erected in the first year of the Holy Calendar (AD 698) by Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty. It was submerged for a long time. It was not discovered until the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. The stele is 2.81 meters high and 1.5 meters wide. The top of the stele is "The stele of the history of assassination in Hedong Prefecture, the ancient state of the Great Zhou Dynasty". The inscription records Wang Renqiu's life experience and the life and social conditions of the Yunnan border residents at that time. It describes the natural environment and the fact of ethnic integration at that time that "the terrain was flat and the fertility was fertile." The inscription was written by Lu Qiujun, a famous scholar in the early Tang Dynasty. Du Fu once wrote a poem that said "Lu Qiu's pen has been handed down from generation to generation, and it is more majestic than Kun's", praising his writing and ink. Written for Wang Renqiu's eldest son, the regular script is simple and smooth, and contains many new characters created by Wu Zetian. It has high calligraphy artistic value. At that time, Wu Zetian proclaimed himself emperor, Yunnan was in the decline of the two kingdoms, and Nanzhao was rising. The Wang Renqiu stele provided valuable historical materials from many aspects. This monument has been listed as a characteristic cultural relic protection unit in Yunnan Province.
