Introduction to St-Benezet Bridge: Pont St-Benezet is a broken bridge outside the city of Avignon. The bridge started construction in 1177 and was not completed until 1185. The original bridge had 21 piers. , 22 huge arch holes, more than 900 meters long, are masterpieces of European medieval architecture. In ancient times, it was the only bridge connecting the two banks in the lower reaches of the Rhone River and played a very important role in Avignon's transportation and economic trade. In the 17th century, the bridge was washed away by the Rhone River, and now only four holes remain, resulting in its current incomplete beauty. There is a popular French ballad "We danced on the Pont d'Avignon", which refers to this bridge.
