Bada Shanren Introduction: Bada Shanren was an outstanding painter in my country in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty. He was born in the sixth year of Qing Dynasty and died in the forty-fourth year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. His surname is Zhu, his monk name is Geshan, Chuanqi, and his nickname is Badashanren. He is the ninth grandson of Zhu Quan, the 16th son of Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang. After the fall of the Ming Dynasty, he became a monk for a time and later returned to secular life. He is famous for his freehand ink paintings, especially flower and bird paintings. In 1985, Bada Shanren was named one of the top ten cultural celebrities in ancient China by UNESCO.
