Introduction to the former site of Beihai Customs Building: Beihai Customs was called Beihai Customs when it was established in 1877. It was the earliest customs established in Guangxi. The customs building was built in 1883. Although the Beihai Customs was established by the Qing government, all important positions such as the chief and deputy tax departments, assistant customs officers, inspector general, and port chief inspector were all held by foreigners, so it was commonly known as the "Beihai Customs". The old site is the physical evidence of the loss of customs sovereignty of old China.
