Introduction to Tongte: In front of the stele pavilion is a pair of newly made jade horses and Tongte, which are said to be the mounts of Emperor Wenchang. The special shapes of copper are horse heads, mule bodies, donkey tails, and cow hooves. According to folklore, touching copper can cure all kinds of diseases and is very efficacious, so there is a traditional folk custom of "touching copper mules in Dongyue Temple".
