Introduction to Longzong Gate: It is an important forbidden gate to the west of Qianqingmen Square and is the main passage between the Imperial City's Xiyuan, Forbidden City West Road and the inner court. There is a military duty room inside the gate, and to the west of the gate is the Cining Palace where the Empress Dowager lives. On weekdays, unless there is an urgent announcement or the emperor's summons, even the princes and ministers are not allowed to enter without permission.
