Introduction to Shenwu Gate: In the middle of the city wall to the north of the Forbidden City, it is the north gate of the Forbidden City. The gate was built in the 18th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1420), and was originally named Xuanwu Gate. In the Qing Dynasty, the word "Xuan" was changed to the word "神" to avoid the name taboo of Emperor Kangxi Xuan Ye. There are bells and drums in the city gate tower, which correspond to the bell and drum towers. They are used to tell the time and are also important access control for daily access to the palace.
