In the late Qing Dynasty, Changchun Palace and Qixiang Palace were renovated. The two palaces were connected from front to back and combined into a A courtyard with four entrances was renamed Tai Chi Hall. During the late Qing Dynasty, Empress Dowager Cixi and Empress Dowager Longyu both lived here.
