Introduction to the monument: In the center of the Grote Market, there is a bronze statue monument. It is the symbol of the city of Antwerp and also symbolizes Antwerp's courageous struggle and perseverance. Most citizens of Antwerp believe that the city's name comes from the Dutch word "handwerpen".
