Introduction to Lake Hamana: Lake Hamana was a freshwater lake in ancient times. An earthquake occurred here at the end of the 15th century, which collapsed the sand dam that closed the lake entrance and became a lake connected to Enshu Beach. Since then, due to the tsunami in the 16th century, the lake mouth was washed wider, and it became the saltwater lake with a complex shoreline today.
