Elephant Orphanage Introduction: is the world's first elephant orphanage, located in the small town of Pinnawela, about 3 hours away from Colombo. The orphanage has been established for more than 30 years and has adopted nearly a hundred elephants. The adult elephants can receive work training such as helping people carry wood. It is the best place for tourists to have close contact with elephants.
