Introduction to the Tian Tan Buddha: The Buddha statue is located on the top of Muyu Mountain opposite the Zen Temple Archway. It weighs approximately 250 tons and is 34 meters high. It is the largest bronze Buddha statue in the world.
The three-story base of the Big Buddha contains an exhibition hall and a large bell with carved Buddha statues and scriptures.
Before the return of Hong Kong on July 1, 1997, a "Return Tripod" was placed under the Tian Tan Buddha to commemorate the handover of Hong Kong's sovereignty and to pray for Hong Kong's prosperity after its return.
