Albatrosses introduction: The annual breeding season begins in September, and adult royal albatross arrive at the nesting grounds on the Otago Peninsula. In October, albatrosses mate and build nests. In November, the female albatross lays eggs one after another and hatches them over the next two months. It was not until late February of the next year that the baby albatrosses emerged one after another. From April to August, albatrosses parents take turns going out to find food and nurturing their young until they are strong enough to take off into the wind and start their independent lives.
