Introduction to the colonnade: The colonnade was originally the Water Forest Garden built by Le Notre in 1679. In 1685, Jules Ardouin-Mansart built a colonnade and 32 Ionian marble columns here. The pediment of the gallery is decorated with reliefs symbolizing children, and the archstones are decorated with sculptures of the heads of nymphs and water gods. In the center, a marble round base serves as the base for the famous group sculptures created by Girardon between 1678 and 1699. : "Pluton kidnaps the Queen of Hades".
