Introduction to the Marble Courtyard: The marble courtyard at the front entrance of the Palace of Versailles is a small square enclosed on three sides. The building in the center of the square is the hunting palace built by Louis XIII. It was renovated by Louis XIV, retaining the original red brick walls and adding marble sculptures and gilded decorations. The courtyard floor was decorated with red marble, and the first floor of the courtyard in front was dedicated to Mary. ·Antoinette's private room and salon, the second floor is the king's bedroom.
