Introduction to St. Nicholas Church: St. Nicholas Church (Alte Nikolaikirche) was built in the Roman Forum and is a late Gothic building. This red and white church was originally used as a chapel for the court, and later became a mass and prayer hall for city councilors. Its observation tower can transmit information and direction to ships traveling on the water from the top of the tower.
