Introduction to the Mochi: According to the Xingning Chronicles of the Ming Dynasty, Luo Mengjiao, a scholar of the Song Dynasty, studied here. He often studied calligraphy in the pond by the spring. When washing inkstones in the pond, the water was completely ink-colored, hence the name Mochi. Luo Mengjiao studied hard and was awarded the title of bachelor. In order to commemorate him and inspire future generations, later generations built a Tanhua Temple next to the Mochi, which was later changed to Tanhua Academy.
