Introduction to the cliff statues at Yanshi Mountain: The cliff statues at Yanshi Mountain are cliff statues from the Tang Dynasty and were carved in the early Tang Dynasty. The three niches of the statue are connected together. The statue in the middle niche is a statue of Sakyamuni, sitting in lotus position on a lotus base. The seated statues in the left and right niches are Bodhisattvas, and the female attendants standing on both sides of them stand respectfully on the lotus platform. The shape is simple and concise, showing the characteristics of statues in the early Tang Dynasty. It is a new style that transitioned from relief sculpture to three-dimensional round carving in the late Tang Dynasty.
