Introduction to General Yangsi Temple: It was built in the 31st year of Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1905 AD) and has Lingnan characteristics. Yang Si was born in Changsha, Hunan in the Ning Dynasty. Legend has it that he became a god at the age of seven. After slaying the evil-doing Wuyi Dragon (Tail Digging Dragon), he was named a general. He could control water and drive away plagues, and was worshiped by many in the Yangtze River Basin. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, a plague broke out in Guangzhou and spread to the Nangang area. Xu Jingliang, a villager from Honggang, led 13 villagers and walked for more than ten days to Jiangxi Province to invite Yang Si to drive away the plague. The plague was immediately stopped. Later, the villagers built temples to worship and pray for good luck, longevity and health.
