Introduction to the Anti-British Fort: In 1904, 600 British imperialist invading troops occupied Gangba Zong and invaded Gyantse from Yadong to the north. They were desperately resisted by Gyantse soldiers and civilians in Zongshan. The people of Gyantse built a fort on Zongshan Mountain and launched a heroic and bloody battle with the invading enemies using native cannons, native guns, "gudos", swords, shuttlecocks and bows and arrows. The battle lasted for eight months. One night in early May 1904, more than a thousand soldiers and civilians attacked the British army and wiped them out. In June, the British army sent reinforcements and used artillery to bombard the Zongshan Fort. The gunpowder magazine in the fort was hit and exploded by the British artillery fire. At the last moment, the soldiers and civilians of Gyantse still resisted desperately with stones, and persisted for three days and three nights. In the end, all the warriors would rather die than surrender and jump off a cliff to die for their country, writing a glorious and tragic chapter. Zongshan still retains the forts that fought against the British back then.
