In the 32nd year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty, Xu Xingjian, a native of Hefei, Anhui, was the commander of Haining Guard and stationed troops in Kanpu Town. , he was strict in military discipline. Every time he went into battle, he would write his name on his clothes and swear an oath to death. He won many battles and killed hundreds of enemies. In the 35th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, there was a lack of troops along the coast. The Japanese pirates took the opportunity to besiege Zhapu. Xu Xingjian led his troops to rescue the siege. The Japanese pirates suddenly abandoned Zhapu and used all their strength to deal with Xu Xingjian's troops. In the end, they were outnumbered. Xu Xingjian was injured in more than ten places and his shirt was bleeding. On the battlefield where he died, people respected this patriotic general who was "wrapped in horse leather and sacrificed his life for the country." To commemorate him, a statue was built for everyone to pay homage to in Tanxianshi City where he once led troops to garrison.
