Introduction to the Koloa Historical Trail: The Koloa Historical Trail is a 10-mile (16 km) self-guided tour with 14 attractions along the way, including: Horn Fountain Park, Prince Kuhio Park , Bophut Beach Park, Koloa Pure Land Temple, etc. Koloa, located on the south coast, was the site of Hawaii's first commercial sugar plantation, and the sugar industry once flourished. The Sugar Monument is located behind beautiful rain trees in the center of Koloa Old Town, across from the remains of the stone chimneys of the Koloa Sugar Refinery built in 1841.
