Introduction to Karls Gate: Between 1775 and 1781, Elector Karl Theodor built this triumphal arch on the east side of the city. The design drawings were merged from 4 drafts, including those of the Elector himself. This is a typical Roman-style city gate with four Palatinate lions lying on the gate. However, due to various reasons, the gate has never been completed.
