In July 2013, it was promoted to a national geological park and named Heilongjiang Yichun Xiaoxing'anling National Geopark. The volcanic landforms in the park are the result of repeated volcanic movements and basalt irrigation since the Late Carboniferous, Early Permian, and Late Permian periods. According to experts, the geological landforms in the park are world wonders and are a newly discovered volcanic geological wonder after Wudalianchi.
