Introduction to the Founding of the Awakening Society: In April 1919, Zhou Enlai failed to study in Japan and felt hostile and depressed. Therefore, like many Chinese students, he abandoned his studies and returned to China. That year coincided with the founding of Nankai University by patriotic educators Zhang Boling and Yan Fan Sunxin. Zhou Enlai was admitted to Nankai University and became a first-class liberal arts student with student number 62. He attended for a short time. After enrolling in school, during the rise of the May 4th Movement, Zhou Enlai participated in and led the patriotic student movement in Tianjin and served as the editor-in-chief of the Tianjin Student Union Newspaper. At this time he met Deng Yingchao. Subsequently, Zhou Enlai and a group of young students agreed with each other and participated in the establishment of the Awakening Society under the pseudonym "Wu Hao".
