Introduction to work in the Soviet Area: In December 1931, Zhou Enlai went to the Central Soviet Area of Jiangxi Province and served as Secretary of the Central Bureau of the Soviet Regional Central Bureau of the Communist Party of China. In October 1932, he served as political commissar of the Red Army. In the spring of 1933, he and Zhu De and others jointly led the Red Army to smash the fourth siege of the Central Soviet Area by the National Army. In May, he was appointed as the General Political Commissar of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. In March 1934, he served as vice chairman of the Central Revolutionary Military Commission. In October, Zhou Enlai participated in commanding the Central Red Army to withdraw from the Central Soviet Area and begin the Long March transfer.
