Introduction to the Dismounting Monument: The dismounting stele reads "Officials have been waiting to dismount here". It is said to have been written by Yan Song, the Prime Minister of the late Ming Dynasty. Because the emperor's mausoleum is a sacred restricted area, not only ordinary people cannot enter casually, but also the imperial officials who are ordered to go there. To pay a visit to the mausoleum, the civil servants must dismount from their sedan chairs and the military attaches must dismount from their horses and respectfully enter the mausoleum. It served as a law at the time.
