Introduction to Shureimon: It is a symbol of Okinawa and a famous tourist spot of Shuri Castle. It was rebuilt according to its original shape in Showa 33 (1958), and the Huanhui Gate was also rebuilt after that. It was once the second gate among the six gates of Shuri Castle. It is said that Shureimon was built in the first half of the 16th century. Its architectural style is a Chinese Tang Dynasty architectural style mixed with traditional Ryukyu techniques: red tiles and white mud. The contrasting, two-story protruding roof creates a stable aesthetic of its own. This gate was once designated a national treasure, but was burned down during the Pacific War. There are models wearing traditional Okinawa clothes nearby, taking photos with tourists, adding a lot of style to the local folk customs.
