Introduction to Sogenji Temple: Built in 1572 during the reign of King Shojin of the Ryukyu Kingdom, it was the national temple at that time and the place where the tombs of the kings of the past dynasties were placed. It was once glorious in ancient times, but was later destroyed in the Battle of Okinawa during World War II. The entire building has disappeared, and now only three arch-shaped heavy stone gates remain. The spectacular scene of that year can be vaguely seen. It was designated as national treasure.
