Introduction to the Jialu River: From the second year of Yuanzhen (1296) to the fourth year of Taiding (1327), the Yellow River burst in Kaifeng six times. The water in the Bianhe River was completely silted up, and Zhuxian Town was also affected. In the eleventh year of Zhizheng of the Yuan Dynasty (1351), Emperor Shun of the Yuan Dynasty sent Jia Lu first as Water Supervisor of Xingdu, and later as Shangshu of the Ministry of Industry and Chief River Control Envoy, specializing in river control matters. Jia Lu first renovated the old course of the lower reaches of the Yellow River, then blocked the small mouth and repaired the old embankment, and finally concentrated his efforts on blocking the Baimaokou and forcing the Yellow River into the old course. After Jialu successfully blocked the mouth, water from Mi County was diverted through Zhengzhou and Zhongmou, then turned south to Zhuxian Town, Kaifeng, and then merged into the ancient canal, directly reaching Shangshui County and entering Huaihe River. Jialu's move not only eliminated the flood problem, but also revived water transportation. The river he dredged was named Jialu River.
After the opening of the Jialu River, it replaced the Bian River as Henan's main waterway to communicate with the outside world. As the shipping terminal of the Jialu River, Zhuxian Town became an important land and water transportation center in Henan and a prosperous commercial port.
Since the 13th year of Guangxu's reign, the Yellow River once burst, and the Jialu River was silted up and filled with yellow sand. Boats were gradually blocked. In addition, the Beijing-Hankou Railway and Jinpu Railway were opened to traffic, and the north-south transportation routes were shifted. Zhuxian Town quickly declined. .
