Introduction to Kinkakuji:Kinkakuji, also known as Luenji, is an ancient Japanese temple first completed in 1397 (the fourth year of Onei). Its name comes from the famous third Ashikaga clan in the Muromachi period of Japan. It was named after the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, and because the outer walls of the relic hall, the core building of the temple, are all decorated with gold foil, it was nicknamed "Kinkakuji".
