Introduction to the Tiwanaku Ruins: The Tiwanaku Ruins (Tiwanaku) is 70 kilometers away from the city of La Paz and is considered the source of the glory of the Inca Empire. Tiwanaku means "Creation Center" in ancient Indian language. A large number of religious buildings, paintings and sculptures, and highly developed ancient Indian culture are concentrated here. It reached its heyday from the 5th to 9th centuries.
