Introduction to Igreja de São Roque: Igreja de São Roque (Igreja de São Roque) in Lisbon is the first Jesuit church in Portugal and one of the earliest Jesuit churches in the world. It served as the headquarters of the Jesuits in Portugal for more than 200 years, until the Jesuits were expelled from Portugal. The church is one of the few buildings that survived the earthquake in Lisbon in 1755. There are many chapels in the church, most of which are in the Baroque style of the early 17th century. The most famous chapel is the 18th-century Capela de São João Baptista.
