Introduction to Yilou: Yilou, also known as Wangfu Tower, is an ancient attic in Qingchang, Lukang. Legend has it that a poignant love story once took place here: a young master from a wealthy family who lived in Yilou fell in love with a maid, and the relationship of disparate status was strongly blocked by the elders; they finally got married, but the husband had to go to Beijing for an exam immediately. Before leaving, he planted a carambola tree next to the wall of the building and promised his wife that he would come back as soon as possible, but she never came back. So her wife waited in front of the attic all day long and died in depression. Nowadays, the tall and strong carambola trees attract people’s imagination.
