Introduction to Changqing Temple: Changqing Temple is located on the south side of Tazi Bridge in the south of Shaoxing City, less than 200 meters away from the former residence of Lu Xun. The temple was built in the second year of Yonghui of the Tang Dynasty (651) and was one of the eight major temples in Shaoxing. , can be called a thousand-year-old temple.
The temple faces east from the west, with ocher walls and black tiles. There was originally a Maitreya Bodhisattva with bare chest and belly in the head hall; the main hall is divided into front and back halls, and the front hall houses a Tathagata Buddha and eighteen Arhats. In the apse is a wooden statue of the Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara, as well as more than fifty large and small plaques.
There is an interesting story about the relationship between Lu Xun and Changqing Temple. Lu Xun was the eldest son and grandson of the Zhou family, and his birthday was the same as that of the legendary Zaosi Bodhisattva. In order to seek good luck and avoid disaster, Lu Xun's parents first "registered" with the Bodhisattva for the infant Lu Xun, and then worshiped the monks in the temple to do so. Master, I hope that with the blessing of the gods, I can protect myself from monsters and monsters. This monk, Master, was the abbot of Changqing Temple at that time, Long Zu. Lu Xun called him "Master Long" and got the Dharma name "Chang Gen". Lu Xun called him "Chang Geng" in "My First Master", which is pronounced in Shaoxing pronunciation. Fa, "gen" and "geng" have the same pronunciation, both of which mean praying for blessings and longevity. Master Long also gave Lu Xun a piece of silver trigram with the words "Disciple of the Three Treasures, Dharma name grows roots", a "Hundred Family Clothes" sewn with small olive-shaped silk pieces of various colors, and a piece of "cow rope" "Things, on which scattered small items, such as calendars, mirrors, silver sieves, etc., are hung to pray for blessings and ward off evil spirits. Today, these items are on display in the exhibition hall of the Lu Xun Memorial Hall in Shaoxing.
