Introduction to the National Archaeological Museum of Spain: The National Archaeological Museum of Spain (Museo Arqueológico Nacional) was established in 1867 with the permission of Queen Isabella II of Spain. Its main purpose at that time was to store the royal collection of monetary, archaeological, anthropological and decorative arts objects. . The museum moved to its current location in 1895 and was renovated in 2009. The main themes of the collection include prehistoric, ancient Egyptian, Celtic, Iberian, ancient Greek, ancient Roman and medieval antiquities.
