Introduction to the Anti-French Martyrs Cemetery: The Anti-French Martyrs Cemetery is a granite cemetery, standing silently on the hillside. Here lie the sons and daughters of Qinjiang heroes who died heroically in the naval battle between China and France at Majiang. On August 23, 1884 (the third day of July), Huang Enlu, the naval commander stationed at Sanjiangkou, used the excuse that "the general's military orders abroad were not respected" and ignored the Qing court's "unordered orders not to fire first. Anyone who violates will win." In order to "cut off" the ban, Lantau Island was used as a barrier, and an ambush was set up on the Qinjiang waterway. When the French ship passed by, he ordered his subordinates to fire at the enemy ship, and the battle to defend Mawei Port began. In this battle, the Navy Banner Camp suffered tragic sacrifices. From then on, the people of Qinjiang Village held a public memorial ceremony for the Majiang Sea Battle on the third day of the seventh lunar month every year to commemorate the martyrs of the Majiang Sea Battle between China and France.
