Introduction to "Bankang" Street: The Panier neighborhood is the old town of Marseille. It is located at the back door of the city hall and has the city's ancient architecture and history. The name Le Panier comes from the hotel "Le Logis du Panier" that already stood here in the 17th century. The old town of Marseille was restored to its former glory in 1983 with the support of European foundations. Here you can also see the remains of a Roman avenue from the 6th century AD. This year, the Marseille city government restored this neighborhood again, inviting artists to move in, and turning it into a cultural and artistic gathering place.
