Introduction to "The History and Future of Mexico": "The History and Future of Mexico" is like a magnificent narrative poem, which is placed in the cloister of the central staircase of the National Palace and was created by Rivera, the father of Mexican murals. The mural is 6 meters high and dozens of meters long. From a historical perspective, it overlooks the development process of Mexico from the Aztec era to modern times. These include: the splendid culture of the ancient Maya and Aztec; the invasion, conquest and colonization of Spanish colonists and the heroic resistance of the Indians; Mexico’s struggle for independence from 1810 to 1821; the fight against the invasion of the US army in 1847 and the defense of Mexico battle; the armed struggle to defeat the French occupying forces in 1862 and overthrow the foreign-imposed Emperor Maximiliano; the Mexican Revolution of 1910-1917 against dictatorship and for "land and freedom"; and the popular struggle of the 1940s. This giant, epic mural is a treasure of Mexican mural art.
